About

Ayalew Lemma TeklemariamI am a dedicated geologist specializing in applied geophysics. I hold an MSc in Applied Geophysics from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, and a BSc in Applied Geology from Mekelle University, Ethiopia. With a strong academic and professional background in geosciences, I currently serve as a university lecturer at Wolaita Sodo University, where I share my expertise in geology with students and contribute to research and academic development in the field.I have hands-on experience in geological fieldwork, particularly in hydrogeology, having worked in various geological terrains of Ethiopia. My work includes water well site exploration, pump testing, and the supervision of well drilling, especially in regions like Bolosso Bombe Woreda. I am experienced in conducting pump tests to assess groundwater potential and monitor aquifer performance, providing valuable data for resource management. Additionally, I have been involved in the preparation of bidding documents for various geotechnical and hydrogeological projects, ensuring clarity and compliance with project requirements. My research focuses on groundwater potential zones and geological structures, utilizing advanced geophysical techniques for mapping and analysis. I also have extensive experience collaborating with my students and colleagues on terrain mapping and conducting geological research in different parts of Ethiopia. These fieldwork experiences have strengthened my practical knowledge and allowed me to guide students in real-world applications of geological research. As an educator, I am passionate about providing students with the knowledge and tools they need to excel in the field of geology. I actively encourage collaborative research with my students, helping them develop skills in terrain mapping, pump testing, geophysical investigations, and geoscientific research. I am committed to continuous learning and professional development, both in teaching methods and in advancing geoscientific research. My professional interests are diverse and encompass various aspects of geology and geophysics. I am particularly focused on the exploration and sustainable management of geological resources, including groundwater systems, geological materials, and subsurface structures. I am passionate about utilizing advanced geophysical techniques to investigate geological formations, assess resource potential, and contribute to the understanding of complex geological environments. My work extends to groundwater modelling, the assessment of groundwater potential zones, pump testing, preparation of bidding documents, and the exploration of a wide range of geological materials, including volcanic, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. In addition, I am dedicated to applying geophysical methods to support sustainable development and environmental management, with a particular emphasis on responsible resource management. My goal is to integrate geophysical research with practical applications to enhance the understanding and utilization of natural resources for the benefit of regional development, environmental protection, and long-term sustainability.
