Graduates asked to contribute their part to national development

The university has awarded degrees to 859 students who pursued studies in undergraduate and graduate programs in regular and continuing education.

Opening the graduation ceremony, Guchie Gulie (PhD), acting president of Wolaita Sodo University, advised the graduates to put in a lot of effort to change the current socioeconomic status of society by using the knowledge and skills they acquired at the university. “When education is aligned with the industry's increasing demand for skilled labor, graduates can have a significant positive socioeconomic influence on society,” the president added. 

In his key message for graduates, Gebre Yntiso (Professor), distinguished guest of the day, accentuated that education is the foundation for any development and exhorted the graduates to contribute their parts as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.

On his part, Akiber Chufo (PhD), Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, stated that the university is prioritizing ensuring the quality of education more than ever and is implementing various strategies to produce competent graduates.

According to Akiber Chufo (PhD), Wolaita Sodo University has graduated over 50,000 students in regular and continuous education programs since its inception in 2007, and currently runs 62 undergraduate programs, 81 master's degree programs, four specializations, and ten PhD programs. He added that out of 859 graduates, 4 graduated with doctoral degrees, 446 with master's degrees, and 409 with bachelor's degrees.

Lastly, distinguished guests of the day presented awards to students who had excelled in their studies.
